University of Alberta Botanic Garden Collections
The University of Alberta Botanic Garden’s diverse collection, comprised of thousands of unique plants, features a wide diversity of ornamentals, fruits, vegetables, trees and shrubs, with an emphasis on plants suited to the extremes of a northern climate. Collections are organized to display and interpret ecosystems, habitats and the relationships between people and plants, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing.

Raspberries, plums, saskatoons, and an annually changing assortment of vegetables are grown throughout the Garden.

View medicinal, and other plants designed to stimulate the senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell.

Lilacs (Syringa) blooms in every shade of purple, along with white, pink and even blue varieties.

Martagon and Asiatic lilies (Lilium) feature many cultivars, including varieties developed by local breeders, and provide a colorful, fragrant summer display.

A large and diverse collection of fragrant, long-lived peonies (Paeonia) blooms mid-summer.

The large and diverse collection of Primula can be found in early spring in the Primula Dell and Alpine Garden.
