Date Night FAQs
What is Date Night? Who is it for?
Date Night happens at the Garden every Thursday evening, June through August. It’s a chance to enjoy the Garden on a summer evening, and, if you wish, to take part in one of the fun activities we’ve lined up. All ages are welcome to the Garden, though we design Date Night activities with adults in mind.
Do I need to have a date?
Not at all! You can come with your pals, your family, your great-auntie, your brother or anyone you like. Or, if you prefer the company of a good book and pretty place to read in solitude, you can do that, too.
Can you get me a date?
Sorry, that part is up to you.
Do I need to register in advance?
Date Nights at the Garden are popular. If you want to take part in any of the activities, we recommend that you register in advance to assure your spot. If you don’t want to participate in the Date Night activities, and just want to stroll around the lovely evening Garden, you can just pay admission at the Gate when you arrive.
What about food and beverage?
You can bring your own picnic to enjoy at the Garden (no alcohol, please). Or, the outdoor Patio Café offers sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream, coffee and other light fare. You can purchase craft beer, wine and snacks at the Garden Bar, which is usually set up near Date Night activities.
When does everything happen?
Every Date Night is different, so activity times vary – check the listings. On Date Night Thursdays, you can get admission to the Garden until 8:30 pm, and we stay open until dusk, between 9:30 and 10.
How much does it cost?
Regular admission applies at the Gate. Some Date Night activities are extra, depending on what is planned for the night. Food and beverages are extra.
What happens if it rains?
The Garden will remain open rain or shine. Depending on what we’ve planned for the evening, we’ll move what we can under shelter or adjust the activity schedule. If wet weather is in the forecast, bring your umbrella and see just how beautiful a Garden can be in the rain!
