NOTE: The June 2 Tea Ceremonies  are sold out.

Experience Japanese culture in a unique setting. Traditional tea ceremonies are offered in the tranquil Kurimoto Japanese Garden. Depending on the style of tea offering, ceremonies are held either in the Ozawa Pavilion tea house, or in the Ikoi no ba, a charming adjoining structure. Dressed in beautiful kimono, members of the Matsukaze Chanoyu Association (Wind in the Pines Tea Association), prepare and serve the tea. Guests enjoy matcha tea, Japanese sweets, and an explanation of the customs that are part of the ceremony.

The Matsukaze Chanoyu Association is a volunteer group dedicated to preserving the traditions of the Japanese tea ceremony.

Sitting Times:
12:45 pm – Ryurei Style
1:30 pm – Ryurei Style
2:15 pm – Ryurei Style

A full explanation of tea ceremony styles is available at https://www.matsukazetea.org/

Ticket Information:
Tickets are $10 for a seated tea ceremony, and are paid directly to the volunteer group (online only). The ticket price helps to offset the cost of imported tea and sweets. This is for tea tickets only – admission to the Garden is extra and gets paid at the Gate.

Tickets must be purchased in advance through the Matsukaze Chanoyu Association’s website https://www.matsukazetea.org/

Tickets are available online up until the day before the tea service, or until they sell out. Tea ceremonies usually sell out so we strongly recommend that tickets be purchased well in advance.

Participants should allow enough time be at the tea ceremony location 10-15 minutes before their sitting time, to take part in an information session. No late arrivals can be accommodated once the ceremony has begun.

Regular admission applies, plus additional $10 for tea ceremony. Cost for tea ceremony is paid directly to the Matsukaze Tea Group online.
Season Pass holders and Friends of the Garden Members get free admission to the Garden.

Advance ticket purchase required.
