What’s happening June 7-13, 2021

It’s Seniors’ Week. If you’re a senior age 65+, stop by the Patio Cafe concession for a complimentary coffee and pastry, June 7-11.

On Sunday, June 13, it’s Butterfly Day, a celebration of the all-important pollinator. The Alberta Lepidopterist Guild will be here with a display and identification table, and they’ll be giving guided 30 minute catch-and-identify walks through the Garden (limited capacity for walks, sign up when you register for admission). The delightful Royal Pollinator Court will also be in attendance – see if you can spot Princess Monarch, Queen Bee and Baron Beetle. Kids and grownups are encouraged to add to the fun by wearing their own butterfly and insect costumes. And consider taking part in the annual BiodiverCity Challenge – the Garden is a great place to capture photos of birds, plants, mammals, moss, lichen, mushrooms and insects, and contribute to citizen science!

The Garden is open late into the evenings now. You can enjoy peace and tranquility from 10 am to 10 pm daily. How about a date night as the sun sets? You can sip a wine or local craft beer as you stroll the Garden, or sweeten things up with an cream from the Patio Cafe while you take in live entertainment. Or, you can make it a memorable night to remember with a Twilight Picnic Experience – set down your blanket, dig into a gorgeous gourmet picnic box for two, and savour the sights and sounds of summer.

  • June Twilight Picnics now open for booking, available from 5-10 pm nightly (reserve in advance)
  • The Patio Cafe Concession is open until 10 pm daily
  • Enjoy lovely Brunch Boxes available Thursday-Sunday, 10 am – 2 pm (must be booked in advance)
  • Play a garden game! Complimentary games available for a little bit of fun – sign them out at the Welcome Centre (available first-come, first served).
  • It’s lilac time – see these beautiful purple June bloomers in many areas of the Garden.
