Arid Showhouse

Plants showcased in the Arid Showhouse are uniquely adapted to hot, dry and often windy environments. These amazing plants conserve water in multiple ways to get the most out of the scarce precipitation in their habitats. Succulents and cacti are among the fascinating specimens that demonstrate how to make every single drop of water count.

Temperate Showhouse

In this fragrant showhouse, you’ll find plants that thrive in moderate climatic areas of the world with defined seasons. You’ll see plants that are the source of many familiar pantry items, like coffee, black pepper and sweet potato. Of note are several Camellia japonica, flowering shrubs whose blossoms play an important role in Japanese culture, from tea ceremonies to origami.
