Current health regulations require that only people who live in the same household can share a box, so if members of your party are from different households, you can let us know and we’ll prepare separate boxes.

How many people can be in a picnic party?
Our picnic experience is designed with two people in mind. If you want to come with more people, safe physical distancing must be maintained between anyone who is not from the same household. Maximum size of a picnic group is 14 (7 picnic boxes total).

How long can we stay?
Picnic guests can arrive at the Garden anytime after 6 pm, and pick up their picnic boxes anytime between 6 and 8 pm. After 8 pm, when the Garden closes to the public for the day, exclusive access is reserved for a very limited number of picnic guests, until 10 pm. In September and October, picnic pickup starts at 5 pm, and the Garden is open until 9 pm (exclusive access to picnickers after 6 pm).

Where can I picnic?
You can picnic anywhere in the Garden, as long as you maintain physical distancing of at least 2 metres from other parties. If you want to purchase alcoholic beverages, you must have your picnic in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden or the Aga Khan Garden.

Can I bring my own drinks?
Outside alcohol is not permitted. We include bottled mineral water with your picnic, and you can purchase wine, beer, cider or non-alcoholic fruit beverages to enjoy with your picnic. Alcohol can be consumed in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden and the Aga Khan Garden.

Can I bring my own food and have a picnic?
In 2020, outside food is not permitted at the Garden, with the exception of bottled water and small snacks. Exclusive evening access is reserved for those who purchase a picnic from the Garden.

I want to celebrate a special occasion. Can you help?
We sure can! We can help you customize your picnic experience with special touches like personalized cards and flowers. If you want to surprise a special someone, we can even set up your picnic in advance. Or we can help you create a unique customized evening. Call us to make special arrangements.

Is there anything I should bring?
To enjoy the Garden before or after your picnic, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Because it’s summer in Alberta, mosquito repellent is a good idea, as well as outerwear to be prepared for any kind of weather.

What is the cancellation policy?
